The very best in British grown plants
Description - This spectacular garden plant needs plenty of room. It grows the largest leaves of any plant grown in the open. The giant leaves can grow to 3 metres across and are big enough to shelter a man from the rain. Plant in a damp situation - Gunnera must always have plenty of moisture available. In spring the great brown cone shaped flower heads are first to appear, followed by the new leaves which have a spectacular growth rate. When the leaves die back in autumn, be sure to cut them off and use them to cover the crown as it must be protected from frost. This plant is also suitable for the Pondside/Bog garden. Place around the edge of a pond, providing soil is damp and not waterlogged. Alternatively plant in damp areas of the garden.
