Description - Trapa is a native plant to china where it is eaten in many dishes. It is also much revered in India there it is thought to have medicinal properties. The fruit (nut) starts life submerged, as the water temperature increases, leaves emerge and form a floating plant on the surface of the pong, throughout the Summer. As winter approaches the floating plant produces more fruits which sink to the bottom of the pond to produce the new plants for the following season.
